I Am Still Contesting For Kogi State Gubernatorial Election on The Platform of Our Party, APC- Admiral Usman Jibrin rtd.

Published

on

The gubernatorial aspirant of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, Admiral Usman Jibrin rtd. Has said he is still in the race for the governorship of the state on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).

Jibrin’s position was as a result of the fake news peddling around by purveyors of anti- Kogi Rescue Mission, that he will be contesting for Kogi 2019 governorship election on the platform of African Democratic Party (ADC), In their cheap ploy to mislead and misinform members of the general public, including our teeming party supporters, certain dubious elements have been perpetrating the ludicrous falsehood that is unfounded.

The APC governorship aspirant position was made known by Admiral Usman Jibrin New Media Centre (AUJNMC) to journalists in Lokoja, yesterday that, the report is a “cheap ploy to mislead and misinform the public”.

According to the statement ” the Admiral Usman Jibrin New Media Centre has been inundated with calls and messages emanating from various individuals and organisations to the effect that news is on-going at various fora alluding that Admiral Usman Jibrin will be vying for Kogi 2019 Gubernatorial election on the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC), this malicious rumour is believed to be issued and circulated by desperate political merchants working for Kogi state government with no interest in true restoration of Kogi; and who are willing to do anything to stop Usman Jibrin not to contest. It is now obvious that these unprincipled personalities will not stop at any level no matter how ignoble to satisfy their selfish ends”.

Usman Jibrin always stated that ” we are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kogi’s problem is not with the party APC but with an individual and because it is with an individual, our aim is to remove that individual”.

“Admiral Usman Jibrin rtd. Is a respectable and principled person with undoubted integrity whose political agenda is not for personal gain but for the good of his beloved Kogi State. He will not, therefore, stoop so low as to sell the hope of Kogi’s rescue mission for any sort of morsel. Usman Jibrin has no intention of backstabbing his supporters by turning to any other party for personal gain. We, therefore, find the evil rumours deeply offensive and misleading.

“The Jibrin Centre wishes to reiterate for the umpteenth time that Usman Jibrin will not jettison All Progressives Congress (APC) for any aspirant neither has he gone to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their party flag bearer for the 2019 Kogi Gubernatorial election.”

“The Jibrin Centre wishes to inform the general public that our principal, Admiral Usman Jibrin rtd. Will certainly be on the ballot as APC candidate for the governorship election which comes up on November 16th, 2019.

We urge our supporters and the general public to disregard such rumour and the rumour-mongers. We challenge the purveyors of this fake news to be bold by coming into the open for Kogites to take them seriously. APC, our party remains the only political party that can offer Kogi stable, credible social, economic and political development.

Published

on

Senate President, Ahmad Lawan has described insinuations that he would be a rubber stamp to the Executive as “sentimental and laughable”.

Lawan, according to a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mohammed Isa, made this known while addressing a group, Women Parliamentarians, led by Senator Joy Emordi on Thursday in Abuja.

He noted that, believing in President Muhammadu Buhari’ s vision and that of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and his personality should not be misconstrued to mean that he is not independent mind.

According to him, “during my campaign, I was called a potential rubber stamp Senate President to the executive; may be because I am close to the President, or because I believe in his cause.

“There is no time that I will ever be a rubber stamp. Yes, I believe in President Buhari as a person and I believe in my party, the APC, but I believe that our problems as Nigerians are Nigerian problems. They are neither APC nor PDP problems, they are Nigerian problems, that require Nigerian solution. So, we have to work together.”

“We will be there for the executive arm of government all the time in moving this country forward .

“We are going to challenge the executive in a manner that is decent but decisive. As a Minister, you have to do your ministerial job well. We will make government appointees to do what is required of them.

“We have to deal with the issues confronting us. It is not going to be easy, but we have to build a relationship that have mutual respect, collaboration and partnership. It is achievable,” Lawan noted.

“We are not here for self serving. We came here with a lot of experiences to impact positively in our country. We are here and we will remain focus to make this government work”.

The Senate President seized the occasion to charged women to be more involved in politics, saying, “the political space in the country is wide enough to accommodate our women, but the ball is in their court to take the advantages”.

In her remarks, Senator Joy Emordi congratulated the Presiding Officers and the leadership of the 9th Senate for what she described as smooth transition, urging them to use their expertise to better the lots of Nigerians.

Emordi said the group was formed to give support where necessary to serving women in the parliament, adding that, “it is our objective to promote cordial relationship between the executive and legislature, and remove the boundaries on women participation in politics for good governance”.
