Adebanjo’s Contributions To National Development Won’t Be Forgotten – MBF

The Middle Belt Forum has expressed sorrow over the passing of a leader the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo.

In a statement signed by its National Public Relations Officer, Luka Binniyat, in Kaduna on Saturday, the MBF described Adebanjo as an exceptional statesman and an unwavering leader whose public service and personal philosophy were rooted in justice, fairness, and the rule of law.

“Chief Adebanjo was a remarkable leader who consistently championed progressive values throughout his political journey,” the President of the MBF, Dr. Bitrus Pogu, said.

Pogu recalled Adebanjo’s advocacy for justice and fairness, citing his support for an Igbo presidency in 2023, even when a Yoruba candidate was in the race.

“His commitment to justice and fairness was unwavering, and his contributions to Nigeria’s development will never be forgotten,” he said.

The MBF president noted that Adebanjo played a crucial role in Nigeria’s development, taking great personal risks for the country’s progress.

“Unlike many of his contemporaries who shifted allegiances or compromised their ideals over time, Adebanjo remained steadfast in his principles, even in the face of adversity and intimidation”, Pogu said.

The MBF also extended its condolences to Adebanjo’s immediate family, the Yoruba nation, and the entire country.

“His demise at the age of 96 comes after a lifetime of contributions to the Nigerian state, spanning from the pre-independence era to the 21st century,” the statement added.
