A concerned member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Doris McDaniels, has disclosed that former minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi destroyed their party in 2019.

According to McDaniels, the party was turned into Amaechi Peoples Party with the presentation of a candidate unknown to Rivers Politics, had no relationship with APC members in the State and the electorates to run for the gubernatorial election in the state.

In a statement she personally signed, Doris McDaniels said the only way to salvage the APC is to take it away from the grief of Rotimi Amaechi, that gave enemies of the party in the state the opportunity to completely destroy the party and he never bothered to look into the welfare of the members as a Federal Minister.

“The All Progress Congress (APC) in Rivers State has been marred by various issues, and some politicians in the state believe they are all-knowing and all-powerful. However, the people of the state are not ignorant of what is happening at the party.

“The blame game continues, with some pointing fingers at former governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi for killing the potential of the APC in the state out of selfishness and poor leadership qualities.
Others accuse opportunistic politicians who are taking advantage of the party’s downfall to believe they are leaders of the party.
Some causing disunity in the party, not being truthful to their own undoings, while others are playing double roles in the party’s fall.

“The truth is that the APC in Rivers State died in 2019, and Amaechi was the main culprit due to his selfishness and greed.
Other unpatriotic members also contributed to the party’s downfall.

Amaechi conscripted the party to form his own Amaechi People’s Party (APC) and frustrated other credible seasoned politicians who decamped from PDP after 2015 elections with his authoritative display of power, and Amaechi only embraced mediocre politicians who sing his praises to massage his ego as APC members.

“If he had accommodated the new decampees, the APC’s fortune would have been unassaillable in Rivers State because Wike was not a popular choice of the people at that time.”
Doris McDaniels said, adding that the initial state of the APC, after the 2015 election, had a promising outlook on his phantom presidential ambition, adding more sorrow to the growth of the party.

“His method of conducting the primary election, sidelining other aspirants, led to the disqualification of all APC candidates on the ballot box by the judiciary in 2019.

“Currently, the leadership of APC at the national level is not in a hurry to address the issues in the party. They will look into the matter and do a surgical procedure to keep the Party in the hands of members they can trust after opening their doors for new membership drive .

A new APC will be presented to the people in the state for every card-carrying member to have equal.

“It is time for everyone to stop fighting for leadership of the party. At the right time, the party will do the needful for an all-inclusive party. No more business as usual, where people will lay claim to the leadership of a party to the detriment of the party.
At the right time, the truth will prevail, and those parading themselves as the favoured or preferred APC loyalist or leaders will be shocked.

“A question will be asked: Are you interested in your personal ambition or for the ambition of the party to have sustainable growth in our Rivers State for everybody’s emancipation to give good governance to our people?
Doris Mcdaniels asked.
