Terrorists Are Killed In Borno By Military Air Strikes.

Several terrorists have been killed by Operation Hadin Kai troops during operations that took place in various Borno State regions between January 2 and January 6.

Terrorists were allegedly bringing what appeared to be weapons and ammunition into the area during the operations carried out close to Sambisa Forest.

A statement on Sunday by the Nigerian Air Force Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, stated that the terrorists and their weapons were subsequently bombed.

Gabkwet noted that a total of 12 terrorists were killed during the operation.

He said, “The convergence of terrorists within the location raised suspicion of their intent and plan, hence, the directive to strike the location. The aftermath of the strikes led to a huge ball of flames from two adjacent spots within the vicinity, while some surviving terrorists were observed scampering for safety.

“Feedback also revealed that 12 terrorists were neutralised in the strike and their logistics destroyed, thereby degrading their ability to attack soft targets and their own troops.”

Gabkwet also said following an intelligence report, the troops conducted an operation in the Lake Chad region, which led to the deaths of some terrorists and the destruction of their vehicles and motorcycles.

On January 6, 2024, similar strikes were also conducted in the Tumbuns in the Lake Chad region, roughly 1.5 km to the southwest of Tumbun Agiri. The order to attack the location came from intelligence that over time had shown armed terrorists were constantly congregating in pick-up trucks and motorcycles. The statement went on, “Several terrorists were eliminated and vehicles and motorcycles were destroyed as a result of the precise strikes at the location.”
