Ibadan Explosion: Makinde Said, “We Won’t Let This Tragedy Be In Vain.”
The governor of Oyo State, “Seyi Makinde,” has promised that the suffering and unfavorable circumstances that followed the explosion that shook Ibadan last week would not be in vain.
Yesterday, the governor provided the assurance to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) members who were paying him a condolence visit in his office. The BoT was led by Sen. Adolphus Wabara, a former Senate President and Chairman of the party.
While expressing his appreciation for the visit, Governor Makinde said he was deeply touched by the PDP BoT’s visit and their kind words of support.
“This tragedy has been a difficult time for all of us, but we are determined to emerge from it stronger than ever. I want to thank the people of Oyo State for their resilience and strength during this difficult time. I also want to thank the PDP BoT for their solidarity and commitment to our state,” he said.
Governor Makinde went on to outline some of the steps his administration is taking to address the aftermath of the tragedy, which include the provision of temporary shelter for the affected victims and provision of financial support for them and their families.
He also spoke about the need to learn from this tragedy and make changes that will prevent similar incidents in the future.
“We will not let this tragedy be in vain. We will use it as an opportunity to make Oyo State a safer and more secure place for all its residents,” the governor said.
Earlier, the PDP BoT Chairman, Sen. Adolphus Wabara, commiserated with the governor and the people of the state following the tragic explosion.
He also expressed its deepest sympathies to the victims and their families and said that the party was praying for the quick recovery of those who were injured.
Wabara called for an investigation into the cause of the explosion and urged the government to take measures to prevent such tragedies from happening again in the future.
“We offer our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident and to the people of Oyo State. We are here to offer our sympathy.”
“We commend Governor Makinde for his leadership and compassion in the aftermath of this tragedy. He has shown great strength and resilience in these difficult times. We stand with him and the people of Oyo State as they begin the long process of healing and rebuilding. This is a time for all of us to come together as one, united by a common goal of a brighter and safer future for our state.”
“The PDP BoT reaffirmed its commitment to working with Governor Makinde and the state government to achieve this goal.”
In addition to offering their condolences and support, the PDP BoT chairman also took the opportunity to urge the people of the state to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
Sen. Wabara emphasized that “we must not allow this tragedy to divide us or create divisions in our communities,” emphasizing the need for cooperation and alertness in averting future tragedies. Rather, we need to collaborate to build a more robust and resilient Oyo State, where everyone’s safety and security is of utmost importance.
