10 Injured, 1 Dead, In Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash

The Lagos and Ogun state police commands have started a joint patrol on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to prevent crimes in the area.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a post on X via @BenHundeyin on Thursday.

In January, gunmen abducted the chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Philip Aivoji, and some other party chieftains at the Ogere area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Although they later regained their freedom, some persons died during the incident.

Hundeyin said the joint patrols would cover Kara Bridge to Sagamu Interchange.

“As part of efforts to enhance security on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the Police Command in Lagos State and its Ogun State counterpart have commenced joint patrols of Kara Bridge to Sagamu Interchange.

“The patrol teams from the Lagos command will comprise mainly the Rapid Response Squad.

“Motorists are, therefore, enjoined not to panic at the sight of increased police patrols, particularly the RRS. This is a proactive measure to prevent crime and criminality on this stretch of the road, ” he said.
