Taraba Guber: Bwacha Will Contest In 2023 – Source
A high powered source close to Senator Emmanuel Bwacha (Taraba South) has told KWARARAFA REPORTERS that the lawmaker will definitely contest the 2023 governorship race in the state.
Speculations have been rife about Sen. Bwacha in run up to the contest with some political watchers saying the politician was merely plotting his move while weighing options.
But a source has now authoritatively told KR that the Senate Deputy Minority Leader will run for office.
Bwacha, a grassroots politician, is a three term senator who has been a member of the House of Representatives and a former commissioner in Taraba state.
The source noted that the recent flagging off ceremony that saw the Senator cutting the tapes for the construction of a federal road network was part of the deciding factor for his declaration.
The source noted further that the event which saw the most powerful politicians in Taraba converging at Donga local government, was a clear message of endorsement by many stakeholders.
He said, “there is no doubt that the event helped in solidifying the political acceptance of Senator Emmanuel Bwacha by the state. Remember that the governor wanted to stop the event by all means but was practically over ruled by even his own cabinet. The event was more than a flagging off ceremony. It was a solidarity visit by the state. I think it was clear to all that Senator Emmanuel Bwacha has all it takes to run. And now that he has made his intentions known, we can only hope for the best.”
Governor Darius Ishaku is from the same senatorial zone as Bwacha and has been engaged in a war of attrition with the senator. Bwacha’s ambition is seen as one that will up the angst between the two power brokers.
