Kebbi Government Plans To Build New Mosques, Rehabilitate Existing Ones

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, says, his administration intend to construct new Mosques and rehabilitate existing ones in consonance with the high esteem placed on Religious Affairs by the Government.

The Kebbi Chief Executive announced this at a Special Prayer Session in Birnin Kebbi, this Monday, to usher in the new Islamic Calendar, 1446AH.

Represented by the Secretary to State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, the Governor remarked that the cardinal principle of his administration on improving the quality of life of adherents of all Religious beliefs would be vigorously implemented.

“On ground already, I have established Ministry of Religious Affairs, and retained the Office of the Special Adviser on Religion, unprecedented in the history of Kebbi State, three Islamic Boards have also been created by law and assented to, now fully functional”,

“They are Zakkat Board, Hisbah Board and Preaching Board. My administration is mindful of the Ulama, we give due regards to them and leaders of other religions, they should sustain fervent prayers for the betterment of the society”, the Governor added.

“My Government has recorded tremendous achievement in infrastructural development throughout Kebbi State, I am inviting Religious Leaders to offer necessary advice to the administration for societal growth., our relationship with the religious class would continue to blossom”, Nasir Idris said.

Earlier, the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs to Kebbi State Governor, Engr. Imrana Usman said the Prayer session was organised to mark the new Islamic year,1446 AH , First Muharram.

According to him ,the objective was to thank Al Mighty Allah for his blessings and pray for peace and tranquility in Nigeria and Kebbi State for the Kauran Gwandu’s led administration to continue to deliver dividends of democracy to people of the state.

The Special Adviser on Power and Politics, Alhaji Kabir Sani Giant, informed the prayer session that the government of Kauran Gwandu has promoted unity among the populace of the state, and maintained good understanding with the Ulama.

“Governor Nasir Idris has worked closely with Religious leaders to develop Kebbi State, also, his SSG and the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, have been performing credibily to foster harmony and best rapport between Religious Clerics and the Government, that’s commendable”, Giant remarked.

Supplication to the ALMIGHTY ALLAH to mark the new Islamic Calendar, was offered by Sheikh Umar Malisa, a Judge of the Shari’a Court of Appeal, Alkali Abubakar Muhammad Ambursa and Professor Muhammad Wali Argungu.

They prayed for peace, tranquility and security in the state and the nation, as well as increased health, wellbeing and success for the nation’s leaders.

It will be recalled that the Kebbi State Government, under the leadership of Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu declared Monday 8th, July,2024 as public holiday to mark the new Islamic year,1446 AH
