Gov. Idris Commits To Supporting Religious Activities, Donates N50m To Tijjaniya Movement

Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting religious activities in the state.
The Governor made the statement at the 2024 International Maulud for Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani, held at the Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.
Expressing his pleasure at hosting the annual International Tijjaniya congregation in the state capital, Gov. Idris announced a donation of N50 million to the Tijjaniya movement.
He emphasized that the Kebbi State Government was greatly honoured by the presence of the distinguished clerics from the Tijjaniya Movement who attended the congregation from countries such as Senegal, Morocco, and Nigeria.
‘ This religious gathering is not only historic but also significant to the Kebbi State Government,” the governor stated.
The Kauran Gwandu also promised to always assist the movement to promote religious activities.
Dr Idris assured the congregation that he would continue to support the sect in its efforts to propagate Islam and ensure a conducive environment for religious activities to thrive in the state.
“I am fully aware of the immense support I have received from the Tijjaniya movement in my political journey, especially during my election.
“I will do everything possible to assist the Tijjaniya movement. In recognition of the importance of this gathering, I am announcing a donation of N50 million.
“This is in addition to the earlier assistance we provided for organizing this event.
“This administration will continue to supports allreligious organizations to function effectively,” he assured.
Earlier, Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Dahiru Usman Bauchi, the eldest son of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi and the proprietor of the Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi Foundation, who represented his father, mentioned that the Maulud celebration was organized in memory of the late Ahmad Tijjani and to honour the sacrifices made by Islamic clerics.
He also highlighted that the gathering serves as a platform to pray for lasting peace and security in the North-West region.
The leader of the Tijjaniya movement in Kebbi State, Khalifa Ahmad Usman Muktar, thanked Governor Idris for his unwavering support for the movement’s activities, particularly in organizing the congregation in Kebbi State.
He also encouraged the people to engage in skills acquisition to achieve self-employment.
