Kaduna, Nigeria – Stakeholders of the Labour Party in Kaduna State have welcomed the appointment of Senator Nenadi Usman as the Chairman of the party’s Caretaker Committee and Hon. Solomon Danbaki as the Interim Chairman of the Kaduna State chapter.

At an interactive meeting held in Kaduna yesterday, the stakeholders congratulated the new leadership and expressed gratitude to Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, and Dr. Alex Otti, for the appointments.

The meeting also condemned the actions of the immediate past Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, and his associates, accusing them of anti-party activities that disrupted the party.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the stakeholders called on Abure to refund all party assets and funds in his possession, urging him to “embrace peace and accept the current reality for the greater good of the nation.”

The communiqué read in part: “We advise the new leadership to immediately embark on a membership drive at all levels and create a new membership register, as we no longer have confidence in the old one.”

The stakeholders also appealed to aggrieved members to return to the party, assuring them that efforts are being made to address past anomalies.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of a new slogan: “Obidient Movement! Doing the right thing! Doing the right thing! Go and verify!”

The development comes as the Labour Party seeks to reposition itself as Nigeria’s main opposition party.

With the new leadership in place, party stakeholders expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in future elections.

“We remain steadfast in our determination to reclaim Nigeria for ourselves and future generations,” the communiqué stated.

The meeting was attended by representatives of various support groups and stakeholders from across Kaduna State.
