Gov Alia And PDP Engage In Verbal War Over Governance

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue state has promised to ensure that the forthcoming October 5, council election in the state is free, fair and credible.

The Governor who gave the assurance while flagging off the All Progressives Congress, APC, campaign in Gboko also stated that a level playing field would be provided all parties in the election.

Represented by his Deputy, Dr. Sam Ode, the Governor urged members of his party to embarke on campaigns to ensure victory for the party.

He said, “the election will be free, fair and credible because we eill ensure a level playing field for all the parties to test their popularity.

“So let’s go out there and campaign and sell our candidates to the people and ensure that the APC records a resounding victory at the poll.”

The Governor also handed over 23 APC flags to the chairmanship candidates and their deputies with a charge on them to work with their people.

Earlier, the APC State caretaker Chairman Dr. Benjamin Omale, pointed out that the committee had played a vital role in addressing the grievances of aspirants and members of the party.

While assuring that the committee had ensured peace and stability in the party, the Chairman urged party supporters to come out en-mass on October 5, “and vote for all candidates of the APC for better service delivery and for the general good of the people.”

He commended President Bola Tinubu, National Chairman of APC and the National Working Committee of the party for their support in bringing peace to Benue APC and formation of the Unity Caretaker Committee in the state.

In his goodwill message, Sen Joseph Akaagerger said the people of Benue North East were fully behind Governor Alia and would vote all APC candidates.

Speaking for the Benue North West District, APC stalwart, Mr. Emmanuel Jime noted that the people of the state elected Governor Alia “and that is why he is working for them.

“He is only doing what the electorates asked him to do by executing people-oriented projects and building human capacity.”

The APC State Organizing Secretary, Mr. James Orgunga said the APC was ready and prepared for the poll stressing that the party would field candidates in all the available chairmanship and councillorship positions.
