Brazilian Investors From JBS S.A Visit Dodoru Cattle Market In Kebbi
A high-profile delegation from Brazil’s JBS S.A., one of the world’s leading companies in livestock and meat processing, visited the Dodoru Cattle Market in Kebbi State on Monday to explore investment opportunities in livestock development, meat processing, and animal health.
The delegation was led by Mr. Fabio Maia and Mr. Osario Dal Bello, accompanied by the Executive Secretary and CEO of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Hajiya Aisha Rimi, alongside other officials from the Commission.
Speaking with journalists after touring the Dodoru market, Mr. Fabio Maia expressed delight at the variety and quality of livestock available. He noted JBS S.A.’s extensive experience spanning over 70 years in beef, chicken, fish, dairy, and related industries.
“We are excited to be here to share our expertise and collaborate with Kebbi State for mutual benefit,” he remarked.
Similarly, NIPC Executive Secretary, Hajiya Aisha Rimi, described the market as impressive and exceeding expectations.
“The cattle here have excellent genetics, making them ideal for fattening and large-scale livestock production,” she said, expressing optimism that the collaboration would succeed and reinforce Kebbi’s position as a hub for livestock production.
The Commissioner for Animal Health, Husbandry, and Fisheries, Alhaji Kabiru Usman Alaramma, thanked the Brazilian delegation and NIPC for their commitment to fostering this partnership.
He highlighted Governor Nasir Idris’ proactive efforts, noting that the Governor had previously sponsored officials to São Paulo, Brazil, to initiate discussions on collaboration.
“We commend our Governor for his dedication to investment initiatives and thank the Brazilian investors for their interest in our livestock market,” he said.
The delegation also visited a private rice mill and a poultry factory,Ganou Farms in Sabon Garin Gorou, where they applauded the scale and quality of investments in Kebbi State.
The Kebbi State team accompanying the delegation included former Head of Service, Alhaji Sufyanu Garba Bena; Commissioner for Animal Health, Husbandry, and Fisheries, Alhaji Kabiru Usman Alaramma; Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi; Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Alhaji Hayatu Bawa; and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Malam Yahaya Sarki, alongside key officials from the Ministry of Animal Health, Husbandry, and Fisheries.
