Gov Nasir Idris Inspects Proposed New GRA Site In Birnin Kebbi

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, on Thursday visited the proposed site for a new Government Residential Area (GRA) located at the South Eastern part of Kawara village in Birnin Kebbi.
The Governor, accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Bala Yakubu Tafida, and other top government officials, was received by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Lands and Housing,TPL Dr. Abubakar Ahmed (Sarkin Yen Sarki).
During the visit, the Permanent Secretary presented a detailed layout map of the proposed GRA, highlighting its benefits, including improved accessibility, increased housing opportunities, and enhanced government revenue.
Governor Nasir Idris commended the foresight of the Ministry of Lands and Housing, describing the project as promising and beneficial to the people of Kebbi State.
He assured that the proposal would be thoroughly reviewed before further action.
Speaking to journalists, the Permanent Secretary explained that the visit was to provide the Governor with firsthand insight into the project.
“We invited His Excellency to inspect the site and assess the project for the new GRA in Birnin Kebbi. He has assured us of his commitment to evaluating the proposal,” he said .
He further explained that the project spans 620 hectares and includes 383 commercial plots and 2002 low-density residential plots. It also incorporates provisions for government and quasi-government offices, with about 100 plots dedicated to such facilities.
“This is a mega project based on a cost-benefit analysis. The layout is expected to generate billions in revenue for the state government, while also facilitating economic and residential development,” he added.
The proposed GRA is anticipated to transform Birnin Kebbi by opening up more accessible roads and enhancing the city’s infrastructure and housing sector.
