Expert advocates implementation of NDC to eradicate emissions

An Expert, Mr. Akinola Solanke said the implementation of Nigeria’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) is aimed at eradicating greenhouse gas emissions and achieve a sustainable future.

According to him the framework will bring new regulations and actions to reduce emissions in various sectors.

Speaking at the theme “Accelerating the Transition Towards a Net Zero Future in Africa,” he said “This gathering is a crucial step in prioritizing the implementation of Nigeria’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).

“Over the next two days, we will engage policymakers, innovators, and the private sector to explore how to accelerate our nation’s NDC commitments, ensuring a sustainable future for Nigeria and Africa.

“As the premier platform for collaboration, this forum will discuss policy frameworks, innovative solutions, and private-sector engagement to tackle climate change effectively.”

Mr. Akinola who the Director of NDC forum 2025 stressed that the edition will be the first of many editions of the Nigeria Climate Change Forum where they seek to create a platform for facilitating meaningful conversations that will lead to climate action and steer on the part to true energy transition.

He noted “We therefore look to your continued partnership, support and collaboration towards achieving this goal.

While appreciating the participants he said “we sincerely appreciate our speakers, government partners, sponsors, and media partners for their invaluable support throughout this whole process and despite all the challenges we faced on the road to making today a reality.”

The Conference witnessed participants cutting across top government dignitaries, Members of the House of Representative, Members of the International Community, and noble stakeholders to brainstorm and fine-tune ways of eradicating emissions in the society.

This will assist in promoting the use of clean energy vehicles and improving public transportation, increase the use of renewable energy sources and improving energy efficiency, Implement sustainable waste management practices and improving water efficiency among other benefits.

Recall that Nigeria aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060, and the implementation of its NDC is a critical step towards achieving this goal.
