ICPC Chairman Bags The Anti-Corruption Champion Of The Year Award

Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, has been honoured by the Top 10 Magazine as the Anti-Corruption Champion of the Year 2024 for the many achievements, his leadership strict adherence to the rule of law and international best practices, which attract respect, admiration and strategic partnerships to the Commission with key stakeholders across Nigeria.

Dr. Aliyu, who was represented by the Director of Public Enlightenment and Education Department of the Commission, Mr. Demola Bakare received the Award during a ceremony recently held in Abuja; stated that the recorded successes of the ICPC were possible due to the ICPC Chairman’s penchant for the rule-of-law in his leadership style.

Mr. Bakare further stressed that “ICPC would continue to ensure that corrupt practices and other related offences are reduced to the barest minimum through strict adherence to the due process of the law. The Commission will continue to remain a law-compliant-agency in the effective deliveries of its statutory functions. Your recognition of our modest anti-corruption efforts is deeply appreciated.”

According to the Director “The entire ICPC family honestly feel honoured for acknowledging and honouring our Chairman as the Best amongst the entire Anti-Corruption Agencies in the Country. This will go along way in boosting our performance.”

During his citation speech, the Convener of the event, Mr. Tony Iji said that the Top 10 Magazine Award highlighted Dr Aliyu’s leadership direction aimed at consolidating the integrity of the Commission’s processes to make them more efficient and less prone to abuse, which had been achieved within just one year.

The citation speech further stressed that “Dr. Aliyu’s anti-corruption agenda and policy thrust as encapsulated in the theme: Care, Accountability, Responsibility, and Efficiency (CARE), have motivated the Commission to enhance its tools, approaches, and engagements. It prioritises proactive measures for corruption prevention without neglecting enforcement. His leadership emphasises integrity, innovation, and strategic use of modern technology to enhance ICPC’s operations.”

Justifying the credibility of the Award, Mr. Inji earlier stated that the Top 10 Magazine 2024 Award was acknowledging and honouring government functionaries with excellent records in the service of the nation such as Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, as Man of the Year; Hon Minister of Arts, Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Hannatu Musawa as Female Public Service Game Changer, amongst others.

Under Dr. Aliyu’s pragmatic leadership, the ICPC and Nigeria have been accorded multiple awards and recognitions, locally and internationally for exceptional performances in the fight against corruption.
