Hundreds Of PDP Supporters Defect To APC In Yauri

In continuation of his thank you visit, Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has received hundreds of PDP supporters who defected to the ruling APC in Yauri on Thursday.

Led by prominent opposition figures, the new entrants chanted, “Kaura alkhairi ne”, affirming support to Kauran Gwandu and incumbent administration.”

Announcing their defection at a rally in Yauri, former State House of Assembly member, Hon. Shehu Aliyu, Marafa Yauri, Alhaji Abbas Gulma, and Alhaji Audu Maigandi, Jarman Yauri, attributed their decision to join the APC to good governance and exceptional leadership by Governor Nasir Idris..

“The monumental achievement recorded by his administration on infrastructural and human development in the state is an indelible legacy”, the new APC members chorused.

Elated by the mass defection, APC State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, welcomed the new members, assuring them of equal treatment and full integration into the affairs of the ruling party.

“You are welcome back to APC, everyone knew that you were originally members of this great party before leaving at your own volition, this is a homecoming for you,” he said.

On the occasion, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Halima Muhammad Bande, alongside the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Khalid Suleiman, enumerated Governor Idris’ achievements in the education sector within Yauri Emirate.

“Seventy-nine schools, both primary and secondary, have either been renovated or newly constructed, while 60 others are undergoing renovation,” she stated.

She further announced that the governor has consistently paid WAEC examination fees for students in the state.

“Just recently, he approved the payment of 2025 WAEC examination fees for our students”, Dr. Bande added.

To address the shortage of teachers, the Commissioner disclosed that 2,000 new qualified teachers have been employed on the approval of Governor Nasir Idris.

Furthermore, the governor has donated ₦50 million and ₦30 million to the Boys’ and Girls’ Command Schools in Jega and Goru, respectively.

At the event , the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, donated a car, motorcycles to all ward chairmen, secretaries, youth, and women leaders in appreciation of their support.
