Justice Yunusa Musa of Kogi State High Court Retires

Kogi State Governor, His Excellency, Yahaya Bello, ably represented by his Deputy, Chief (Dr.) Edward Onoja, CIK, on Tuesday, attended the Valedictory Court Session in honor of Hon. Justice Yunusa Musa, on his retirement as a Judge of the Kogi State High Court of Justice.

The Session, held at the Court’s headquarters in Lokoja, had in attendance, Speaker of the KSHA, Honourable Grand Khadis, Judges of the Sharia and Customary Courts of Appeal, Acting Chief Judge of Kogi State, Kogi State Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, legal practitioners drawn from the Bar and Bench.

Others were the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Deputy Chief of Staff, Heads of security agencies, religious and traditional leaders, amongst others.

In a Goodwill Message on behalf of the Governor, Chief Onoja, said the legal luminary had in his years of service, dedicated himself to what was true, irrespective of whose ox was gored. He quoted Michael Jackson as saying: “Lies run sprints, but the truth runs marathon”.

Chief Onoja referenced the foremost Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Umaru Eri, CON, whom he said, was amongst the pacesetters who raised the bar of the seamless judicial system being enjoyed in the State.

He continued: “As you bow out with much energy and zest, I believe that your many years of experience and good knowledge of the Law will be extended for societal use especially in championing the unity, peace, and security of your community.

“On behalf of the Kogi State Government, I wish to congratulate you, asking Almighty God to protect you, and your family,” he said.

Justice Musa had earlier appreciated Governor Bello for providing the enabling environment for the Judiciary to be effective and efficient.

Justice Yunusa Musa was born on 25th May, 1956. He gained admission for his LL.B Degree program at Bayero University, Kano in 1980. He attended the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985. He is married with children.
