Accountants Are The Engine Room Of Government – Gov. Nasir Idris
Kebbi State Governor, Comrade, Dr. Nasir Idris, has described professional Accountants as the indispensable engine room of government business.
The Governor made the remark this Thursday in Birnin Kebbi, at the opening of a 3 day intensive seminar on accounting ethics and public financial management for Directors, deputy Directors of Finance and Supply, and Principal officers of the Ministry of Finance.
The Governor says, “I am thanking organisers of this important training of gathering of people who are in the forefront in the affairs of the government of Kebbi State.
You’re the engine room of our administration, we cannot toy with you on anything”.
“I am one of you. I want to thank you immensely for the support you have given me. This administration will be relying on you to block all leakages, so that we have enough money to execute projects”, he said.
Comrade Nasir Idris affirmed resolve to meeting the aspirations of workers in Kebbi State by protecting their rights and privileges including welfare and care.
The Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Birnin Kebbi, said the training programme has been designed to induct the participants with the highest ethical standards in accounting practice and efficient management of public funds.
“This is an important aspect for financial management in consonance with regulatory framework. Financial stability is essential for societal development”, the Commissioner stated.
Alhaji Abubakar thanked the governor for providing an enabling environment to the Finance Ministry towards attaining transparency and accountability for good governance.
The Chairman of Kebbi State Chapter of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN, Alhaji Adullahi Umaru Illo, commended Comrade Nasir Idris for promoting professionalism among accountants as demonstrated by his sponsorship of the 3 day intensive seminar to update the knowledge of participants.
The Kebbi Accountant General, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Ibrahim Nahaliku, said emphasis has been placed on capacity building to enhance efficiency in practice.
The Seminar was organised by the Ministry of Finance in collaboration with ANAN .
