A PROPOSAL AND PLEA TO CREATE THE MINISTRY OF INJUSTICE,HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES AND ABUSE OF OFFICE BY GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AGAINST NIGERIAN CITIZENS.

Your Excellency Sir,

Permit us at The Center for Democracy and Human Rights CEDEHUR to congratulate you on winning the keenly contested Presidential election of 2023 and your subsequent swearing in on the 29th of May 2023 as the President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Mr President Sir,we would like to commend you for hitting the ground running as President of Nigeria. You fearlessly tackled the fuel subsidy issue by removing it in your first speech and first day in office as President. You suspended the ex-CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele who inflicted pains, hardship and untold suffering on all Nigerians by his ill advised Naira redesign policy and you have also removed the EFCC boss Abdulrasheed Bawa to fight corruption and economic crimes better.

The quick passage of the student loan bill to assist Nigerian youths to pay for their tertiary education is also noted with gratitude Sir. You have cleared the doubts of most Nigerians who doubted you and your good intentions for Nigeria and CEDEHUR congratulates you on these prompt and decisive decisions that have positively impacted on governance in Nigeria.

It is imperative and exigent Sir,that having tackled these burning issues the next issue that should be addressed is the issue of Injustice, abuse of Human Rights and abuse of office by both elected and appointed office holders especially those of the Armed Forces and paramilitary institutions against innocent Nigerians.

Your Excellency Sir,
It’s a fact that our country and it’s citizens in Nigeria today are being constantly traumatized, unjustly treated and their Human Rights abused without remedy or an avenue for redress. Social media is awash with countless stories of police officers and soldiers maltreating citizens even on camera and this has become the norm in Nigeria instead of an aberration. This is unacceptable Mr President Sir as our Armed Forces and paramilitary institutions, civil servants, elected and appointed public office holders should be made aware that they are servants of the Nigerian citizen and not Masters and overlords.
The recent ” End SARS” youth protest is a testament to how our country could degenerate into anarchy if Injustice and Human Rights abuses are not addressed promptly and the culprits punished appropriately.

Mr President Sir,
Nigeria is ranked very low in the list of countries that are serious violators of Human Rights and by creating a Ministry and a Minister of Injustice and abuse of Human Rights you would be sending a clear message to our Armed Forces and paramilitary institutions that their official actions and that of their personel against innocent Nigerians will no longer be condoned by your Government. This Ministry would go a long way in addressing the numerous cases of Human Rights violations and Injustice against Nigerian citizens and would not only be national applauded but globally unprecedented!

Your Excellency Sir,
If perhaps due to the cost of creating, maintaining and running a Ministry of Injustice and Human Rights violations is too expensive then in your wisdom you could create and appoint a Senior Special Adviser or a Senior Special Assistant on Injustice and Human Rights violations under the Presidency that would be reporting directly to you sir.

CONCLUSION.

Mr President Sir,
The Center for Democracy and Human Rights thanks you for reading our plea and proposal to create a Ministry of Injustice and Human Rights Violations or in the alternative appoint a Senior Special Adviser or Assistant on Injustice and Human Rights Violations.
We believe that in the interest of fairness, Justice and equity you will act on it immediately as your style of governance has shown that you do not waste time before implimenting good policies and programs for Nigerians.

May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
May God bless President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and may Nigeria succeed under you-your Excellency.

President.
