Badminton Association Commends Gov Idris For Pledging To Complete Complex

The Kebbi State Badminton Association has expressed appreciation to Governor Nasir Idris for providing funds for the completion of the indoor Badminton complex in Birnin Kebbi.

Hon .Engr Abdullahi Faruk Muslim who is also the Commissioner for Works and Transport, made the commendation when he led other members of the association including the national Vice Chairman, Alhaji Umar Faruk Sadiq on a courtesy visit to the Governor in Birnin Kebbi this Tuesday.

Muslim who extolled the good leadership qualities of Governor Idris, who is the Chairman of the State Badminton Association and Grand Patron of Association of Badminton Clubs in Nigeria (ABCIN, thanked him for providing funds for the completion of the comlex which the members have been struggling to complete.

‘ We are grateful indeed because for years, members are struggling to complete their indoor complex until you promised to fund the project.

‘ They reached up to between 40 and 50 percent, but you came in, provided funds and directed the execution of quality job on the complex’, he said.

Muslim expressed gratitude to the governor on behalf of the entire members for the appointment of two members as Sole administrators as well as his unrelenting moral and financial support to the team.

‘ You inspired me to play badminton, I became enthusiastic in the game because of you, your excellency ‘,he said.

The National Vice Chairman of Badminton Association of Nigeria, Umar Dandare also thanked the governor for providing funds to complete the construction of the indoor Badminton complex in Birnin Kebbi and as well as for being the first governor to sponsor Badminton tournament in Nigeria .

‘ We are proud of the governor for making the association proud and sponsoring the association for participating in national tournament ‘, he added.

The Chairman ,Kebbi Badminton Club, Maina Umar Pansi and Zubairu Muhammad, Chairman CSDP Badminton club Birnin Kebbi, expressed appreciation for the construction of the Badminton Indoor complex .

They also commended Hon. Engr Abdullahi Faruk Muslim for forming the youth Badminton Academy in Kebbi as well as his commitment towards promoting the game for young talents.

In his remarks, Governor Nasir Idris who is the Chairman Badminton Associations of Kebbi and at the same time Grand Patron of Association of Badminton Clubs in Nigeria,ABCIN expressed delight with the visit.

He commended the association for winning gold medals and trophy for the State in various competitions in Nigeria.

Idris described Badminton as the fastest growing game after football in Nigeria, promising to sustain his support to the State Badminton Association.

He commended members of the association for their collective and individual contribution and support for the development of the game and the association.

He said his administration planned to build a befitting stadium in the state.

Idris gave an assurance that he would judiciously use the resources of the state towards achieving even development.

He enumerated some of the major strides his administration recorded in Urban and rural development , Health, Education, Welfare, Agriculture and settlement of workers entitlements and payment of salaries.

Highlights of the event was the presentation to the Governor of laurels and trophy won by Nafiu Sidi and Anas Shehu at both the Kaduna and Abuja Badminton tournaments .
