Commissioner,Stakeholders Commend Gov Idris For Sustained Support To KECHEMA

The sustained support to Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency ,KECHEMA by Governor Nasir Idris for the delivery of quality healthcare services has been commended.

The commendation was made by the Hon Commissioner of Health, Comrade Yunusa Musa Ismail and critical stakeholders of the Agency comprising of the new Governing Board members,CSOs ,Media,organised labour and religious clerics during a two day orientation workshop for the new Members at Sokoto Guest Inn this Tuesday.

Participants at the workshop bared their minds that the sustained support of Kebbi State Governor,Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu to the activities and programmes of KECHEMA has facilitated the scaling up of health indices of the state as well as avail the people of the state with affordable quality healthcare services.

The Commissioner thanked Governor Nasir Idris for his unwavering support to the health sector and hoped that the workshop would enlighten the new board members of KECHEMA on their roles and responsibilities.

He described the Executive Secretary of KECHEMA Dr. Jafar Augie Muhammad as hardworking and dependable in the discharge of his duty who worked assiduously to elevate the agency to its enviable position as number one in Nigeria.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Jafar Augie Muhammad presented a paper on the concept, background, legal framework, mission, vision ,establishment and operations of KECHEMA.

He explained that KECHEMA was established as a contributory social health insurance scheme and not for profit making intent.

According to him, the workshop was organised to educate the Chairman and Board Members on their roles and responsibilities in the implementation of KECHEMA scheme to make healthcare delivery affordable to people, particularly the less privileged in the society.

There was also a presentation by Barrister Hadiza Tukur on the legal aspect of the role and responsibilities of Kechema Governing Board among others

The Chairman,House Committee on Health, Hon Aliyu Babangida Gulumbe in a remark, lauded the establishment of KECHEMA, saying that the Kebbi State House of Assembly deemed it necessary to give the bill establishing the agency quick passage.

This was to ensure that people of the state irrespective of their tribe or religion have access to quality and affordable healthcare services with ease without financial difficulty,he said.

In his closing remarks, the Hon. Chairman of KECHEMA Governing Board, Alhaji Abubakar Bala Gado, thanked Gov Nasir Idris for the confidence reposed on them by their appointment.

He pleged the commitment of members to join hands together for the delivery of quality healthcare service to people of the State.

Gado thanked KECHEMA for organising the workshop to enlighten them on their roles and responsibilities as board members in the implementation of its activities.

The workshop also featured goodwill messages from the representatives of UNICEF, IHP and WHO as well as questions and answers.

Among the government functionaries at the event include, Dr. Shehu Nuhu Koko,Permanent Secretary Ministry for Health, Hajiya Aisha Usman, Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Budget and Economic Planning, Special Adviser to Kebbi State Governor on Health Matters, Dr. Aminu Haliru Bunza, Malam Yahaya Sarki ,Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Kebbi State Governor and State NLC Chairman, Comrade Murtala Usman.
