Culture, Tradition Tool For Unity, Social Cohesion – Governor Nasir Idris
The administration of Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State will continue to promote culture and tradition to strengthen the unity of people.
This is because, culture has colossal potency for unity and social cohesion among diverse groups in the society, as such his administration will incorporate promotion of culture among its policy thrust.
The Kebbi State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi,stated this at the First Unity Cultural Festival, organised by the Ministry for Information and Culture held at Haliru Abdu Stadium, Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
“Governor Kauran Gwandu has placed premium on developing culture for social cohesion, unity and economic growth”,
“This is demonstrated by his support to the Ministry of Information and Culture to stage the first cultural festival of unity in the state by assembling people of diverse cultural heritage to mingle with one another and showcase peculiar cultural talents”, the Commissioner announced.
“The incumbent government of Comrade Nasir Idris is people-orientated administration, it shall continue to employ cultural diversity for unity and peaceful coexistence”, Yakubu emphasised.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Sa’idu Buhari Warrah, said the unity cultural event was made possible by the support of Governor Nasir Idris.
“We are grateful to the Governor for affording the Information Ministry, level playing ground to carry out its mandate successfully”,
“Participants to the festival should use the platform as veritable tool for peace and unity in the society”,
“Our Artists and Performers should strive to instill virtues of tolerance through their performance skills into farmers and herders to enhance the economic fortunes of the state, both groups should embrace peace and unity”, Warrah said.
The Permanent Secretary urged the people of Kebbi State to sustain support to the present administration and its policies to enjoy more dividends of democracy under the APC.
THE Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, was the Special Guest of Honour at the event.
Among groups which showcased cultural talents were Fulani, Zabarma, Dakarkari, Kambari, Tiv, Igbo and Yoruba, to the delight of spectators.
