DELTA STATE GOVERNOR COMMENDED FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

ASABA, Nigeria,

– Comrade Gbenga Fajoye, Chairman of the Association of Unemployed Youths of Nigeria (UYAN) Delta State Chapter, has commended the Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his exceptional developmental strides since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

Fajoye praised Oborevwori’s administration for its focus on job creation and economic development, citing the governor’s efforts to improve infrastructure, healthcare, and education as key drivers of growth. He also acknowledged the governor’s commitment to transparency and accountability, which has helped to build trust among residents and investors.

“I must commend Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his remarkable achievement in growing Delta State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to over ₦110 billion annually,” Fajoye said in a statement. “This is a testament to his administration’s strategic approach to revenue generation and economic development.”

Fajoye noted that the governor has done exceptionally well in creating job opportunities for thousands of Deltans, particularly from the Warri axis, since he assumed office. He also commended the governor for paying off a cumulative debt of over ₦300 billion incurred by previous administrations.

The chairman specifically highlighted the governor’s efforts to restore Warri’s status as one of Nigeria’s major commercial cities/centers, which had been neglected by previous administrations. He also applauded the governor for engaging the prestigious Julius Berger Construction Company, in executing critical projects, including the construction of three flyovers, a cloverleaf interchange, pedestrian bridges, and ancillary road expansions at the DSC Roundabout, alongside other projects.

He emphasized that, this will in turn create job opportunities for our teaming youths, and get more youthful minds productively engaged, thereby making the state far more secured, while referencing the fact that, the analysis from his organisational Data Base, shows that with this consistency of work and development, it will certainly reduce the level of unemployment, amongst the currently high level of unemployed youths within the state.

Fajoye then urged the governor to continue on this path, while pledging his association’s support for Oborevwori administration’s efforts to promote economic growth and development in Delta State.

“On behalf of the youths in Delta State, I wish to thank Governor Oborevwori for the construction of flyovers, pedestrian bridges, and the other developmental projects in the state (Delta) in less than two years, of assuming office, ” Fajoye said. “The youths are fully convinced that before Oborevwori completes his tenure, Delta State would become a business and commercial hub, attracting a lot of investors and investments.”
