The Benue State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Emmanuel Adesina has ordered special deployments to churches, parks, event centres, entry and exit routes in the state to check security breaches during the Easter celebrations in the state.

The Command also issued dedicated four phone lines; 0806 600 6475, 0706 737 4913, 0805 749 3117, and 0708 325 0154 for ease of communication in the event of a security breach in any part of the state during the festivities.

A statement issued weekend in Makurdi by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent, SP, Catherine Anene indicated that the Police Commissioner had issued marching orders to heads of formations to ensure the security of lives and property in their various areas of jurisdiction.

According to the statement, the Police Commissioner in his operational order, “directed all Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to deploy personnel and other resources to strategic places mapped out in their areas of responsibility, particularly, churches, parks, event centres, entry and exit routes in the state.

“Officers deployed on the highways are directed to be more vigilant and remain courteous while carrying out their duty.

“The Commissioner of Police felicitates with the good people of Benue state, particularly Christians on the occasion of Easter celebration. He enjoins Christians to pray for God’s protection and peace in Benue state.

“Religious leaders, traditional leaders, parents, and guidances are advised to warn their children and wards against practices that are unlawful in the course of their celebration.”
