Ebonyi Gov Presents 2025 Budget Of N396bn To Assembly

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, on Thursday, presented the 2025 budget proposal of N396.59bn to the state House of Assembly, with education and health taking priority in the estimates.

Tagged “Budget of Economic and Social Development,” the proposal allocates N70.14bn to education, making it the largest sectoral allocation, followed by health with N39.01bn.

While presenting the budget, Nwifuru said the focus of the estimates is to foster industrialisation, drive economic growth, and improve the living standards of residents of the state.

“Our administration is committed to repositioning educational training to ensure entrepreneurial knowledge and skills acquisition for economic self-reliance at all levels.

“Pursuant to this, we have introduced reforms in the curriculum of basic and secondary education, with emphasis on technology and science,” the governor said.

He added that the state was investing in technology-driven education, noting that the employment of teachers with expertise in technology and entrepreneurial education was a key component of the reform.

The proposed budget places heavy emphasis on the economic and social sectors, which received N200.13bn (50.46%) and N141.18bn (35.60%), respectively.

The administrative sector was allocated N50.9bn, representing 12.83% of the total budget, while the law and justice sector got N4.1bn (1.04%).

Nwifuru expressed optimism that the proposed allocations would strengthen the state’s industrial base, enhance infrastructure development, and improve social welfare.

The House of Assembly is expected to begin deliberations on the budget proposal in the coming weeks.
