EDUCATION: Gov Idris Approves N585.4 Million Tuition Fees For 100 Kebbi Students In India
The Kebbi State Government has disbursed N585.4 million for the payment of tuition fees for 100 students of Kebbi origin currently studying in various universities in India.
The approval was granted by Governor Nasir Idris following a submission by the Ministry of Higher Education.
Addressing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Isa Abubakar Tunga, emphasized Governor Idris’ commitment to education, describing him as a professional teacher dedicated to fostering knowledge acquisition in all fields of study.
“All the students in India are pursuing science-related courses, including Medicine. Additionally, 25 students from Kebbi State are studying Medicine and Nursing Sciences in Egypt under an Egyptian scholarship program.
While the Egyptian Government covers their tuition, the Kebbi State Government ensures their upkeep, including accommodation, feeding, and resident permits,” Tunga explained.
He further disclosed that the payment file for the students in Egypt has been submitted for the Governor’s approval, which is expected immediately upon his return from an official engagement.
Tunga commended Governor Idris as a driving force behind educational development in Kebbi State.
