Emir Of Argungu Commends Gov Idris For His Giant Strides In Education

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has been commended by the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Muhammad Mera for his giant strides in coming up with laudable initiatives to further develop the educational sector in the State.
Mera particularly eulogised the Governor for the construction of a Mega school in his Emirate which according to him would go along way in addressing congestion in schools when fully completed and put to use.
The Emir made the commendation when the Commissioner of Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi paid him a courtesy visit at his Palace in Argungu recently.
The royal father who was reviewing the administration of Governor Nasir Idris in its first year in office, believed that the Kauran Gwandu-led administration performed well within a short period of time.
He said within a short period of twelve months, about 10 additional primary schools have been constructed in Argungu while junior secondary schools have also been expanded in his domain .
‘ As I speak ,we have wards in Argungu that have no primary school, but now there is none without a primary school in Argungu .
‘ Some of our schools that are old and densely populated now have junior secondary schools situated with them so that students do not have to travel far from their homes which is one of the factors why girls do not go to school. You can’t give anybody anything better than education ‘, he averred.
The monarch while stressing the importance of education and the pedigree of Kauran Gwandu as an experience educationist and activist , emphatically believes that his experience in the education sector is working for him.
‘ As a person who deals with education at the grassroots, he knows the roles the traditional institutions play in getting children registered in schools, making sure they are retained in schools besides supporting teachers to carry out their activities diligently’.
He expressed delight with the level of synergy and understanding between the governor and the traditional institutions in the state.
‘ So personally, i am not surprised he is working with us, he knows what we can do as the first point of contact to ordinary man.He is a resident activist ,working with us at the lowest level of our community ‘, he averred.
