Food Security: Sanwo-Olu Flags-off N750m Lagos Market Vendors Money
The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has asked vendors and merchants in the state to stop stockpiling goods and food to support the government’s efforts to increase the state’s food supply.
Sanwo-Olu made the appeal on Wednesday, while inaugurating the Lagos Market Trader Money of take-off grant of N750 million for 15,000 beneficiaries in the first phase of the initiative, held at LTV Ground, Agindingbi, Ikeja.
The beneficiaries were given N50,000 each, as they received the bank alert on their phone set.
Sanwo-Olu, however, presented dummy cheques to some beneficiaries at the event to signify the kick-off of the payment.
The event was attended by prominent personalities, like, Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, members of the state executive council, All Progressives Congress, APC chieftains, led by chairman Lagos chapter, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, Royal fathers, including Oniru of Iru, Oba Gbolahan Lawal, among others.
