Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has lauded local contractors for their exceptional performance in delivering key infrastructure projects in the state.

The Governor made this remark on Wednesday during an unscheduled inspection of the Ultra-Modern Secretariat Complex in Birnin Kebbi.

Speaking to journalists after the visit, Governor Idris expressed delight over the contractors’ adherence to project specifications and timely completion of the Secretariat.

“Look at my face; you can see happiness all over me. Honestly, I am the happiest person. The contractors worked according to the agreed specifications and even completed the project ahead of schedule,” the Governor said.

He noted that this accomplishment was a testament to the capability of indigenous contractors, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to engaging local expertise in future projects.

“I want to assure our local contractors that we will continue to engage them so that they can further demonstrate their expertise,” Governor Idris pledged.

The Governor also assured that the Secretariat Complex would be completed before the end of the year and “plans are underway to invite President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Kebbi State to commission the project.

“You can see they are just putting finishing touches. By the grace of God, once it is completed, we will formally invite Mr. President. I have already discussed this with him,” Governor Idris stated.

The Governor attributed his resolve to complete the long-abandoned project to his background as a former unionist and labor leader.

He highlighted the Secretariat’s importance in housing all ministries and civil servants under one roof for greater efficiency.

Governor Idris added that during President Tinubu’s visit, other completed projects, including roads, hospitals, schools, a new motor park, and waterworks, would also be inaugurated.

During the visit, the Governor inspected the ongoing extension of the College of Nursing and Sciences in Gwadangwaji.

He was accompanied by the Head of Service, Alhaji Malami Shekare, the Accountant General, Alhaji Bello Ibrahim Nahaliku; and other government officials.

The Managing Director of MTech Universal Concept, Arc. Munir Musa Jega, the contractor handling the Secretariat project, guided the Governor through the complex.
