Gov Idris Commissions New Mosque, Lays Foundation For Construction Of Islamiyya School In Suru
Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has commissioned the newly constructed Imam Malik Jumuat Mosque in Suru Town, Suru Local Government Area.
The mosque was built by Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmad, AI Suru as part of his contribution to propagation of Islam.
The commissioning ceremony, held on a Friday, was attended by government officials, politicians, and Islamic scholars, including Sheikh Dr. Abdullahi Bala Lau, the National Chairman of Jama’atu Izalatil Bidah Wa’ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS).
In his remarks, Governor Idris praised Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmad for his initiative in constructing the mosque and encouraged others with the means to undertake similar projects.
He also acknowledged the contributions of JIBWIS and commended the Ulamas for their role in guiding and shaping the community under the leadership of Shiek Dr Abdullahi Bala Lau.
Sheikh Dr. Abdullahi Bala Lau also spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of building mosques, adhering to Islamic principles and using wealth in ways that benefit the community and serve Allah.
In addition to commissioning the mosque, Governor Idris laid the foundation for the construction of an Islamiyya School, a two-storey building with eight classrooms and an administrative block, also funded by Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmad, AI Suru.
The school was named after late shiek Malam Abubakar Giro Argungu.
Furthermore, the Governor commissioned a refurbished government hospital in Suru, which was renovated at a cost of 40 million naira through communal efforts, with Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmad, AI Suru contributing 30 million naira.
Governor Idris highlighted some of his administration’s achievements, including the distribution of fertilizers, assorted grains, and CNG water pumps at no cost to the people.
He also announced an upcoming empowerment program worth 5 billion naira, aimed at benefiting 50,000 people with 100,000 naira each.
