Gov Idris Condoles Emir Of Argungu, Commissions Renovated Palace

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), on Thursday visited Argungu to commiserate with the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu Mera, and the family of the late Justice Usman Muhammad Argungu, a retired Justice of the Supreme Court who recently passed away.

Accompanied by Commissioners, Special Advisers, and other dignitaries, the Governor visited the residence of the late Justice in Argungu town, offering words of comfort to the bereaved family.

He also paid a condolence visit to the Emir of Argungu at his palace to express sympathies over the loss of the respected elder statesman and jurist.

Special prayers were offered for the repose of Justice Usman Muhammad Argungu’s soul, seeking Allah’s mercy and his admission into Aljannah Firdaus.

The Emir of Argungu expressed his gratitude to the Governor and his delegation for their support and prayers during this difficult time, wishing them a safe journey back.

After the condolence visit, Governor Idris commissioned the newly renovated Emir of Argungu’s palace. Flanked by the Emir, Commissioners, and other officials, the Governor commended the Emir for the judicious use of funds allocated for the renovation, noting the palace’s impressive transformation.

“I am delighted with the work done here. The palace now wears a befitting new look, and this aligns with our promise to support traditional institutions in the state,” the Governor said.

The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu Mera, took the Governor and his entourage on a tour of the palace, showcasing the extensive renovation.

He highlighted improvements to both internal and external structures, including VIP accommodations, conference halls, and a pavilion that can host 300 to 500 people.

“We are grateful for the resources provided by your administration. This renovation has greatly enhanced the palace’s beauty and functionality, making it suitable for hosting guests and conferences,” the Emir said.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting traditional institutions across the state.
