Gov Idris Flags Off Construction Of 1-Kilometre Road Project In Argungu, Donates N20 Million To Accident Victims
Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, on Tuesday, flagged off the construction of a one-kilometre road with asphalt overlay and drainages in GRA, Argungu.
The project was initiated by Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, the National Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Jarman Kabi, who sought the approval of the Federal Government with financial backing.
Performing the ceremony, Governor Idris commended Alhaji Suleiman Argungu for his commitment to the development of Kebbi State.
He described the APC leader as a progressive and a true ambassador of the state in Abuja.
“Jarman Kabi has consistently demonstrated his dedication to bringing the dividends of democracy to Kebbi State, he is a worthy representative of our people, and his contributions are truly commendable,” the Governor said.
Governor Idris expressed delight that his administration has fulfilled 90% of its campaign promises to the people of Argungu Emirate.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the execution of development projects across the state, including the ongoing rehabilitation of Argungu General Hospital.
“One billion naira has been allocated for the hospital project, with N500 million earmarked for renovations and another N500 million for procuring medical equipment,” he announced.
The Managing Director of Obet-Obet Nigeria Limited, the construction firm handling the project, Ghazali Suleiman Jarma, expressed gratitude to the Governor for flagging off the project.
He noted that the road would enhance connectivity, promote economic growth, and improve the quality of life for residents.
In addition, Governor Idris announced a donation of N20 million to victims of recent accident in the state as part of his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of citizens.
Alhaji Suleiman Argungu, in his remarks, thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the project and commended Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, for his pivotal role in its actualisation.
He also praised Governor Idris for his transformative initiatives, including the establishment of primary and junior secondary schools in remote communities and the renovation of the Emir of Argungu’s palace.
The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu Mera, lauded the Governor for facilitating the establishment of an Agricultural Processing Zone in Argungu.
He said over 500 hectares of land had been cleared for the project, with compensation payments to landowners already underway.
The Emir also appreciated Governor Idris for implementing numerous developmental projects across the state, transforming Kebbi into a beacon of progress.
