Gov Idris Flags Off Distribution Of Agricultural Input To 9,400 Beneficiaries In Bagudo

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State on Tuesday, flagged off the distribution of agricultural inputs and other materials to 9,400 beneficiaries in Bagudo Local Government Area.
The materials were provided by Hon. Bello Kaoje, Kogunan Gwandu, Member House of Representatives, Suru/Bagudo Federal Constituency.
They comprised of water pumps, grinding machines, fertilizers, herbicides, improved rice and maize seeds, motorcycles, sprayers, rice parboiling machines, as well as sewing machines.
Performing the ceremony, Governor Idris described Hon. Kaoje as a “good representative of his people.” He noted that the people of Suru and Bagudo have repeatedly benefited from the lawmaker’s benevolence.
The Governor urged the beneficiaries to use the items strictly for agricultural purposes and warned against selling them.
“Whoever sells any of the items would be arrested together with the buyer, security operatives have been ordered to arrest violators”,
“Farmers should use them to increase production through massive cultivation of the fertile land in Suru and Bagudo Local Government Areas”, the governor said.
In a remark, Hon. Bello Kaoje expressed gratitude to Governor Nasir Idris for visiting the area for the fourth time.
He explained that the empowerment program was designed to encourage agricultural production and eradicate poverty and hunger in the region.
The lawmaker added that the initiative would complement the agricultural policies of Governor Nasir Idris, considering Kebbi’s vast landmass suitable for the production of food and cash crops.
Hon. Kaoje appealed to the Fulani community to expose bad elements amongst them to the appropriate authorities to maintain peace and development.
Dr. Tanko Yusuf Sununu , the Minister of state for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, praised the lawmaker for his efforts.
Dr. Sununu said Hon. Kaoje has excelled not only in legislative matters but also in empowering his people in various sectors.
Bagudo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Aliyu Sambo Zagga, highlighted Governor Idris’ developmental projects in the area, such as roads and schools construction, and refurbishment of health facilities.
“The governor has paid compensation to all those whose lands were acquired for the Lolo Dry Port”, the Chairman said
State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, appreciated the Governor’s visit, saying that it was also an opportunity to thank the people of Bagudo for their support to the administration.
