Gov Idris Flags Off Distribution Of Food Items To Vulnerables In Kebbi

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has flagged off the distribution of food items donated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre of Saudi Arabia.
The donation, aimed at supporting vulnerable residents in Kebbi State, includes 25kg bags of rice, beans, Masa Vita flour, tomato paste, Maggi cubes, groundnut oil, and salt, benefiting 2,450 individuals.
The distribution exercise was launched at the Government Warehouse in Bulasa, near Birnin Kebbi, on Wednesday.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, Governor Idris extended the gratitude of the government and people of Kebbi to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“The administration is deeply grateful for the support of the Kingdom to the people of Kebbi. This is not the first time the Kingdom is coming to our aid, and we appreciate the good relationship between us, especially regarding Hajj matters,” the Deputy Governor said.
He added, “Kebbi is thankful for the intervention of the King Salman Humanitarian & Relief Centre, for bringing succour to our people. We also appreciate the Federal Government and NEMA for their sustained support to victims of floods and other disasters in Kebbi. The administration of Governor Nasir Idris remains dedicated to uplifting the welfare of our people.”
The Director General of NEMA, Hajiya Zubaida Umar, represented by the Director of Special Duties, Hajiya Fatima Qassim, said the food items distributed through the agency aimed to ease the hardships faced by those affected by natural and human-induced disasters.
“The King Salman Centre has entrusted NEMA with the distribution of food baskets for the vulnerable since 2018. This current donation targets Kebbi and Adamawa states, with 2,450 food baskets allocated to Kebbi beneficiaries identified and profiled by NEMA in collaboration with SEMA,” she said.
She highlighted the significance of the distribution ahead of the Ramadan fasting period, praising Saudi Arabia for demonstrating friendship and brotherhood to Nigerians.
Hajiya Zubaida also commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu for its commitment to addressing the needs of disaster victims, while thanking Kebbi State for partnering with NEMA’s Sokoto office to ensure effective service delivery.
The Chairman of the Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Hon. Bello Yakubu, Rilisco, expressed gratitude to the King Salman Centre for its relief efforts and acknowledged Hajiya Zubaida Umar’s unwavering dedication to supporting vulnerable communities in Kebbi and across Nigeria.
