Gov Idris Inaugurates Distribution Of Sports Materials To 500 Clubs

Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu on Thursday inaugurated the distribution of assorted sports materials to no fewer than 500 clubs drawn from across the state.
Speaking at the event, the Kauran Gwandu described the day as very historic and instrumental to sports development in Kebbi State.
He said, “The day is very historic. It is a clear testimony that we are gradually fulfilling all our campaign promises.
“Recall that during the campaigns, we have invited the football and parasoccer teams.”
Dr. Idris expressed delight that the State Beach Soccer Team has been ably representing the state at both national and international sports tournaments.
The Governor also praised the Beach soccer team for emerging as national and African champions.
“My administration will leave no stone unturned in extending all the needed moral and financial support to the team for it to continue to excell.
“We will be a pillar for it to contiue to represent Kebbi State at both national and international competitions.
“This is just a tip of the iceberg in making sure that we support the team to continue to soar to more greatness,”the Governor vowed.
Governor Nasir Idris, while lamenting the devastating effects of the recent flooding in the state, promised to reconstruct the bridges and roads that were washed away.
Regarding salary payments, the governor also pledged to continue the timely payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities.
He denied any deductions from workers’ salaries, stating, “What was deducted is only N500 as a Development Levy, which has been in existence for a long time,” he emphasized.
As a former labour leader, the governor vowed to always stand firm for the rights of workers.
The Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Fingilla, commended Dr. Idris for being a youths and sports friendly Governor.
He said that the the unprecedented gesture was the first of its kind in the history of the state.
He said that it was glaringly clear that Dr. Idris has been an ardent sports lover and benefactor across the state.
The Commissioer acknowledged that the state has been blessed with abundant sports talents that the governor has been leveraging maximally.
He added that the governor has in the last one year successfully extended a myriad of support and empowerment to the youths in the state.
Also speaking, the state NFF Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ladan and Mamuda Hadeja, Chairman, Beach Soccer Team, corroborated Fingilla’s submissions.
Mamuda said that the team recently represented Africa at a world beach soccer competition and it emerged victorious.
He also said the state beach soccer team, Kebbi Fishers has recieved invitation from FIFA to represent the continent in international FIFA competition.
