Gov Idris To Construct 300 Kilometres Of Rural Roads In Kebbi
Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State says his administration will construct and upgrade 300 rural roads across the state.
This is in consonance with the rural transformation agenda of his administration to make life more meaningful to people at the grassroots.
Governor Nasir Idris affirmed this at the flag off of 6.5 kilometres Malisa – Kurya – Maruda rural road in Gwandu local Government Area on Wednesday in Malisa.
According to the governor, 300 kilometres of rural roads across the state have been identified for construction, upgrade, scope improvement and maintenance , in the first phase of the rural transformation agenda.
Comrade Nasir Idris said he was fully aware of the challenges that rural communities face in accessing market transport and other essential services.
That was why, he added, work on all identified roads would continue unabated until completion.
‘ We are committed to ensuring that rural communities are not left behind, agriculture and other social services will continue to receive our attention ‘, the governor assured.
Comrade, Dr. Nasir directed the contractor to execute quality job and urged people of Kebbi State to monitor all projects closely.
Earlier in a welcome address, the State Coordinator of Rural Access and Agricultural Marketting, RAAMP, Idris Adamu said, the 6.5 kilometers road has been scheduled to be completed in one year at the cost of over N565 million naira.
The road project is under the auspices of the Kebbi State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketting Project, RAAMP.
In a similar development, Governor Nasir Idris has flagged off the construction of Rini Junction- Gidan Jodi – Garu Town in Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State under the RAAMP rural roads project.
The governor said he was in Augie in continuation of the commencement of the roads project, started in Shanga Local Government Area this Monday.
Governor Nasir Idris renewed his pledge to continue to give farmers in the state fertiliser free.
‘ In other states, the fertiliser is either sold or subsidised to farmers, but I will never sell the commodity to farmers, I will give them fertilizer free in Kebbi State.
‘ I will distribute the resources of Kebbi State judiciously and evenly ‘ he assured.
Governor Nasir Idris further announced that his administration would soon embark on construction of 5 kilometres of township roads in Argungu.
He added that his administration would expend 5 billion naira empowerment package to 50,000 beneficiaries across the state to mitigate the present economic situation in the country.
‘ Insha Allah, by next month, 50,000 people will benefit from N100,000 each totalling about 5 billion naira ‘, he averred.
The governor gave an assurance that his administration would sustain necessary support to Traditional Rulers.
He enumerated the myriad of achievements recorded by his administration in Education, Healthcare, Agriculture, payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities to workers.
The Hon Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alhaji Shehu Muazu extolled governor Nasir Idris for his developmental projects particularly on construction of rural and Urban roads across the state.
The State RAAMP Coordinator, Idris Adamu earlier explained that, the Rini Junction – Gidan Jodi – Garu road in Augie Local Government measured 5.5 kilometres with a completion period of one year at the cost of over 434 million.
