Governor Idris Pledges Fairness To All, Reassures CAN Of Inclusive Governance

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has pledged that his administration will be fair and just to all people, regardless of religious or ethnic backgrounds.

He reiterated that his government is inclusive and represents all the people of Kebbi State.

“My administration is all-encompassing, providing everyone a sense of belonging. We will continue to assist Christians on pilgrimage to Jerusalem,” Idris assured.

The Governor made this commitment during a visit by the Kebbi State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), led by its Chairman, Rev. Dr. Ayuba Kanta, at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

Governor Idris further announced his administration’s decision to settle a debt of N18 million owed by CAN, Kebbi State branch, to the National Christian Pilgrims Commission for pilgrimage expenses.

This intervention followed an appeal by the CAN Chairman, who expressed gratitude for the Governor’s support.

In response, Governor Idris directed the Secretary to the State Government to clear the debt immediately .

He also committed funds to complete the construction of CAN’s Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi. In addition, the Governor promised to consult relevant authorities for the provision of a Christian cemetery .

“I thank CAN members for their support and cooperation. The government will continue to provide welfare packages to the Christian community during festivals such as Christmas and Easter,” the Governor stated.

Governor Idris also revealed that the Federal Government had revoked the contract for the construction of the Koko-Dabai Road due to the contractor’s incompetence.

He assured that the Kebbi State Government has received approval to rebuild the road, with or without reimbursement, because it benefits the people directly.

Work on the road, he said, would begin once documentation is finalized.

Earlier, Rev. Dr. Ayuba Kanta expressed CAN’s gratitude for the Governor’s inclusive governance, especially the creation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the appointment of Christian advisers.

He also reiterated CAN’s request for a cemetery, additional land for churches, and ongoing welfare support for Christians in Kebbi State.

Rev. Kanta in the end commended Governor Idris for improving the lives of Kebbi citizens and pledged continued prayers for his success.
