Governor Nasiru Idris Honored by GB Foods In Spain for Advancing Agri-Business In Kebbi State

The Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasiru Idris, has been honored by GB Foods, a leading food processing company, during a ceremony held at their factory in Trujillo, Spain.

The recognition was awarded for the Governor’s efforts in creating a conducive environment for the development of agri-business in Kebbi State.

During the event, Governor Idris praised GB Foods for their innovative approaches to agriculture and food processing.

He expressed a strong desire for the company to involve Kebbi’s local farmers in tomato production, similar to the successful block farming model implemented by the company in Spain.

The Governor also requested the transfer of advanced maize and rice farming techniques from Spain, which allow participating farmers to achieve yields of 12 and 18 tonnes per hectare, respectively.

This is in stark contrast to the 2.5 and 3 tonnes per hectare currently produced by local farmers in Nigeria.

“I am proud to be recognized by GB Foods, and I see this as an opportunity to learn from their expertise.

“I urge GB Foods to partner with us in tomato production and share their advanced farming methods with our farmers. This will enable us to increase our yields, improve food security, and enhance the livelihoods of our people’, he stated.

GB Foods commended the Governor’s dedication to agri-business development and expressed their willingness to collaborate with the Kebbi State government to transfer knowledge, technology, and expertise to local farmers.

The Chief Executive Officer of GB Foods, Mr. Vincenc, shared his optimism about Governor Idris’s commitment to advancing agriculture in Kebbi State, saying, “We are impressed by the Governor’s vision for agriculture in Kebbi State.

‘ We look forward to working together to develop the agri-business sector, improve food production, and enhance the well-being of the people of Kebbi State.”

The Governor was accompanied to Spain by key Government officials including the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Shehu Muazu; Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Abba Sani Kalgo.

Others were, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Junaidu Bello Marshal, the Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Abubakar Chika and Accountant General of the State, Alhaji Bello Ibrahim Nahaliku.

The Governor and his entourage has since returned back to Birnin Kebbi, the State capital safely.
