Hisbah Arrests Jigawa Commissioner With Married Woman In Kano

On October 19, 2024, the Kano State Hisbah Board announced the arrest of Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, for allegedly engaging in an affair with a married woman, Tasleem Baba Nabegu.

Hisbah officials caught him in an uncompleted building during a surveillance operation prompted by complaints from the woman’s husband, Nasiru Bulama. The Hisbah Director-General, Abba Sufi, confirmed the arrest, stating that Sankara will face prosecution in court on multiple charges, including operating illicit drug centers.

The arrest highlights ongoing concerns about the commissioner’s conduct and illegal activities.
