Imo Police Nab Two Drug Traffickers

Owerri – The Imo state Police command on Thursday said it arrested two suspected drug traffickers in Imo state, one Uchechukwu Nwanguma 28-year-old man and Onyekosi Chukwu Ebuka, a 35-year-old man.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Henry Okoye, disclosed this to newsmen while parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Owerri.
The Police said it was based on an intelligence-led operation that led to the arrest of Nwanguma while for Ebuka the police said it was a concerned citizen who gave a tip-off to the command that led to his arrest.
According to the police operatives, the items recovered during the arrest include large quantities of weeds suspected to be Canadian Loud, an imported strong synthetic strain of cannabis, and Hard drugs commonly known as molly or happy pills among others.
Explaining further he said: “In furtherance of the Command’s determination to curb the menace of drug trafficking in the State, Operatives of the Command’s Anti-Narcotics Unit, through painstaking investigation and intelligence-led operation have apprehended a suspected drug trafficker named, Uchechukwu Nwanguma ‘m’, 28 years old who is notorious for selling various kinds of illicit hard drugs.
“The suspect was arrested on 17/07/2024 at Caroline Hostel, Okwu Uratta, Owerri. Recovered from him include, large quantities of weeds suspected to be Canadian Loud, an imported strong synthetic strain of cannabis, and Hard drugs commonly known as molly or happy pills.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime stating that his parent are late and that he moved into the sale of hard drugs to enable him take care of himself and his siblings.”
“In a related development, Operatives of the Command’s Anti-vice unit on 17/07/2024, arrested Onyekosi Chukwu Ebuka, ‘m’, 35yrs, of Uloano in Isu LGA of Imo State for unlawful possession of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp,
His arrest was following a tip-off received from a concerned citizen.
“The suspects will face prosecution upon completion of a diligent investigation. The Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to clamp down on illicit drug dealers and peddlers in the State. He implored parents to caution their children against indulging in the intake or sale of hard drugs or illicit substances, warning that violators will face severe legal consequences,” the police said.
