Kano Governor Promises Dismissed Cabinet Members New Jobs
Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has promined new jobs for members of his cabinet, who were laid off following a reshuffle of his cabinet last week.
Among the officials relieved of their jobs were five commissioners, the Secretary to the State Government and the Chief of Staff.
Speaking to journalists after the State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, Governor Yusuf dismissed political speculations surrounding the cabinet reshuffle in Kano State, emphasising that the decision was taken in good faith and aimed at enhancing governance.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, the governor insisted that the reshuffle was necessary for the administration to fulfill its campaign promises and deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Kano State.
“In recent times, we made some decisions in the administration, including a cabinet reshuffle. As a result of this action, some lost their positions in the cabinet, while others were reassigned to serve in another capacity. Let me remind the public that the action taken was in the best interest of the good people of Kano,” Yusuf stated.
He explained that the reshuffle was aimed at injecting renewed energy into the administration and strengthening government policies.

He also emphasised the need for efficiency to accelerate the delivery of development projects.
“We have promised to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people. Unfortunately, we are already short of time to deliver what we promised. So, we need to effect changes to speed up the process. We have reshuffled the cabinet to improve the system,” the governor added.
Yusuf assured those removed from their positions that they remain valued members of the administration and would be reassigned to other roles.
“We have not dropped those affected for life. We have other jobs for them, so I want everybody to accept the decision the way it is. As for those reassigned, we urge them to bring their previous experiences to bear in their new roles,” he said.
The governor also announced that seven newly appointed commissioners, recently screened and cleared by the state assembly, would join the next executive council meeting, during which their respective portfolios would be assigned.
With the cabinet reinvigorated, Yusuf expressed optimism about bringing fresh ideas to drive social and infrastructural development in Kano State.
