Kebbi Budgets N580.33bn For 2025 Fiscal Year

Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu on Wednesday presented the state’s proposed 2025 budget amounting to over N580.33 billion.

The Kauran Gwandu said that the 2025 budget was tagged,” Economic and Infrastructural Consolidation ”.

According to the Governor, among other sources, the budget is expected to be funded with an estimated IGR of about N25.98 billion.

Dr. Idris said that the recurrent expenditure for the year stood at N127.4 billion, with a personnel cost of about N57.93billion and an overhead of over N70.21bilion.

In the same vein, the Governor said that the capital expenditure would gulp over N 453.18billion.

Among others, Dr Idris said, the 2025 budget would further ensure the ease of doing business by improving the required indices.

Similarly, the Governor said that the budget would ensure massive changes in the state’s judiciary, with a view to further bolstering the security of lives and the property of people of the state as well as attract more local and foreign investments.

Dr Idris also noted that the budget would ensure the sustenance of the ongoing massive urban and rural renewal efforts to further improve the living standard of the people of the state.

The Kauran Gwandu also stated that the 2025 budget would guarantee a myriad of opportunities for the people of the state in the face of formidable difficulties and challenges.

”The ongoing Kauranomics will ensure a spike in prosperity for all the people of the state and sustain the gigantic projects and works that we have started,” Dr Idris said.

He added that the budget would facilitate massive institutional reforms premised on accountability, transparency and the rule of law, among others.

The Governor further said that all hands would be on the deck to improve governance by providing the delivery of quality social services.

Among others, the Governor said that the budget would also further enhance security, boost agriculture and intensify the exploitation of mineral resources by leveraging technology.

Dr.Idris said: “We will also accord top priority to guaranteeing food security, poverty reduction, many empowerment schemes, among others.”

He added that his administration was also poised to putting the state’s economy on a pedestal of development, in the face of daunting challenges occasioned by the removal of the petroleum subsidy.

The Governor restated that the Koko-Mahuta Road was captured in the budget and the Flagg off for the reconstruction of the road would soon take place.

Dr.Idris also expressed happiness that the 2024 budget had helped to ensure the fulfillment of his various campaign promises, resulting in the massive infrastructural revolution, promising to the happy tempo tempo in 2025.

He extolled the extant cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government, acknowledging the sustained commitment and cooperation of the State House of Assembly.

In response, the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mohammed Samaila Bagudo, assured the governor of the legislature’s commitment to a speedy review and passage of the budget.
