Kebbi :Government Expends N50 Million On Refurbishment Of Firefighting Trucks
Kebbi State Government has taken possession of three refurbished fire fighting vehicles out of the five trucks approved for the exercise by Governor Nasir Idris at the cost of N50 million through direct labour.
A test run of the vehicles was demonstrated by simulation to confirm the firefighting ability of the machinery to the admiration of onlookers at the headquarters of the Ministry of Works and Transport in Birnin Kebbi, this Thursday.
The Commissioner in the Ministry, Hon. Abdullahi Umar Faruq Muslim, informed Newsmen, that before now, the Ministry was only in possession of single serviceable firefighting truck until the advent of the administration of Comrade, Dr. Nasir Idris, who approved the refurbishment of five out of the ten dormant vehicles at the cost of N50 million through direct labour.
Hon. Muslim said a technical Engineer from Jos invited to Birnin Kebbi, provided professional know how to bring the vehicles back to life and restore their efficacy in operation.
He commended the governor for his sustained support to the ministry to perform its functions.
The Permanent Secretary for Works and Transport, Arc. Sa’ad Sakaba, was thankful to the governor for approving the refurbishment of the trucks that made it possible to reinvigorate the Fire Service Department of the Ministry to serve the people in recognition of the importance of fire outbreak antidote.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, reappraised the record of development projects of Governor Nasir Idris with positive impact on the quality of life of the people of the state, saying that Kebbi, has now become a great infrastructural construction hub.
He thanked the governor for reinvigorating the Fire Service Department of the Ministry to perform its operation with optimal proficiency.
The Director of the Department, Mallam Bashir Bello expressed immense appreciation to the governor and the Commissioner for Works for the resuscitation of the firefighting vehicles to energise the Department.
