Kebbi Govt Condemns False Viral Video On Lesbianism And Homosexuality

The Kebbi State Government has strongly condemned a viral video containing falsehood about the prevalence of lesbianism and homosexuality in the state.

The government described the defamatory material as obnoxious, misleading and unacceptable.

The official reaction was made on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi by Engr. Imrana Ibn Usman, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs.

He debunked the statistics attributed to Kebbi and Sokoto States by Dr. Nasiru Abubakar Kigo, a serving Permanent Secretary in the Kebbi State Civil Service.

According to Engr. Ibn Usman, the government, through the Ministry of Religious Affairs, conducted a thorough investigation into the allegations and found them entirely false.

“We diligently appraised these claims to establish the truth, the assertion that Sokoto State ranks highest in the nation for lesbianism is utterly false and condemnable”,

“Likewise, the claim that Kebbi State has 19,567 lesbians, majority married women, as well as 15,979 homosexuals, is utterly baseless,” he stated.

He emphasized that Kebbi and Sokoto States, being pillars of the famous Sokoto Caliphate, hold strong moral and religious values, saying that such allegations are not only misleading but also offensive to their heritage of sound virtues.

“These false claims have painted our states and our people in a negative light, while also misrepresenting Islam and the legacy of the Sokoto Caliphate”,

“Our investigations found no credible evidence to support these allegations”,

“There is no documentation or certificate confirming any individual’s involvement in such heinous acts”,

“Therefore, these claims are unfounded and must be rejected outright.” Imrana remarked.

The Special Adviser cautioned that spreading such misinformation has serious consequences, both in society and in the sight of The Almighty Allah.

“This viral video has caused unnecessary concern for our God-fearing Governor, his counterpart in Sokoto State, and the peace-loving citizens of both states”,

“The Kebbi State Government categorically rejects and condemns such false declaration and will not allow the good image of the state to be tarnished in whatever way”, the Special Adviser warned.

He made it clear that the matter was being addressed appropriately and necessary action taken to forestall recurrence.
