Kebbi Intensifies Effort To Boost Power Capacity

Kebbi State Government, says, it is intensifying effort on enhancing power capacity towards attaining steady and regular electricity supply to all parts of the state.

Already, forty new transformers and accessories worth five hundred and twenty million naira have been procured and commissioned by Governor Nasir Idris which are now being distributed to designated communities in the state.

Processes are also ongoing to purchase another forty sets of new transformers in July as well as raise the power capacity supplying Kebbi from 7.5 MBA to 15 MBA.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Power and Politics, Alhaji Kabir Sani Giant, disclosed this when residents of Adamu Alieru Housing Estate, Birnin Kebbi, visited him in his residence this Sunday, to show appreciation for the new 500 KVA transformer recently allocated to the area from the forty units consignment being distributed to communities.

Alhaji Giant informed his guests that Governor Nasir Idris has placed electricity supply top of the agenda in recognition of the importance of power to the wellbeing of the people, socioeconomic and industrial development of the society.

“A major priority of the transformation policy of Comrade Nasir Idris is the provision of uninterrupted electricity supply which serves as foundation for economic and industrial growth. The Governor has made remarkable performance in achieving this target objective”,

“He has purchased and distributed forty new transformers while another consignment of similar number would be procured and installed in different communities in July”, Giant added.

“At present, the Governor has ordered a general survey throughout Kebbi State to determine peculiar projects desired by inhabitants of various locations. He is committed to executing such projects”, the Special Adviser said.

“Look at the ongoing urban renewal of the state capital, Birnin Kebbi by the Governor, the town has completely transformed into a beautiful city”, he said.

Alhaji Kabir Giant made it clear that similar developmental projects would be extended to all nooks and crannies of the state while citing the execution of ongoing projects including roads construction, completion of State Secretariat Complex and other infrastructural development.

” I am announcing to you that after the completion of the projects under execution, the Governor would construct 5 kilometres of road including drainages in the Alieru Housing Estate”, Giant assured the residents.

Earlier, spokesman of the Community, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Yahaya Sarki, expressed the deep appreciation of the residents of Alieru quarters to Giant for facilitating the allocation of a new transformer to the area by Governor Nasir Idris.

“For a very long time, Alieru Housing Estate has been experiencing power outage as a result of the low capacity transformer in place which has been overwhelmed by overloading”, Sarki said.

“The SA Power and Politics, who is also a resident of the area has brought succour to us for including our area among places to enjoy the services of the new transformers procured by Governor Kauran Gwandu, we are grateful to our leader, the Governor and his Special Adviser on Power and Politics for this highly kind gesture”, Yahaya Sarki concluded.

Other residents who spoke , Alhaji Jibril Ibrahim Master, Alhaji Abubakar Noma and Malan Nazifi Abubakar also pour encomium on Governor Nasir Idris for the donation of the transformer to the community .

They commended the governor for his magnanimity and concern for the welfare of people in the state.
