Kebbi MDAs Defend 2025 Budget As Assembly Clerk Affirms Cordiality Between The Executive And Legislature
In conformity with Constitutional Provisions, Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are continuing to defend their fiscal appropriations before the State House of Assembly, after presentation of the Budget Proposal by Governor Nasir Idris to the Legislature on 18th December, 2024, for ratification.
The Clerk of the Assembly, Alhaji Sulaiman Shamaki, who disclosed this to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, spoke about the smoothness of the process.
“All the affected MDAs have been appearing promptly to defend their proposed expenditures”,
“The Governor has received assurances from the Legislature of a quick passage of the 2025 Appropriation Bill”, Shamaki stated.
He revealed that after passing the second reading, the Fiscal Proposal was referred to the Joint Committee on Finance, Appropriation, and Monitoring, which has been diligently scrutinizing the Budget.
“The exercise is almost at its final stage, we are optimistic it will be concluded soonest, paving way to approval before the year ends,” he added.
The Chairman of the Budget Defence Committee, Hon. Adamu Muhammad Birnin Yauri, and his team were commended for their tireless efforts in reappraising the MDAs’ proposals.
Shamaki also acknowledged the cordial relationship between the executive and legislature, which he attributed to Governor Nasir Idris’ exemplary leadership.
“Whenever the House receives a request from the executive, it acts promptly in the interest of Kebbi State’s development. The Governor has shown appreciation for this on numerous occasions,” Shamaki affirmed.
In continuation of the budget defence, the Kebbi State Ministry of Information and Culture made its 2025 fiscal year defence on Monday, December 23, 2024.
The Commissioner in the Ministry, Hon. Yakubu Ahmed BK, led the defence team, in company of the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Saidu Buhari Wara, and other senior officials.
Priority was placed on initiatives to enhance communication strategies, preserve Kebbi’s cultural heritage, and modernize information dissemination.
Hon. Ahmed emphasized the ministry’s commitment to fostering community engagement and promoting Kebbi’s traditions.
He outlined plans for improved media outreach and the development of cultural events aimed at uniting the state’s diverse population.
General Managers of Kebbi Television and Kebbi Radio Stations also elaborated on key projects and their implementation needs.
