Meet Agbu Kefas, ex- Military Man Who Is Now Taraba Governor-Elect

Lt. Col. Kefas Agbu (rtd) was born on November 12, 1970, in Wukari, Taraba State, Nigeria to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Kefas. His family is renowned for great strides and achievements in the military and public service.

Agbu is a philanthropist, an experienced leader, and a communicator of high standing in society.

After a meritorious 21 years of service in the Nigerian Army, he retired to serve his country in a much greater capacity.

As a member of the Presidential Committee on North-East Initiative (2016–2019), his contributions to the restoration of peace and socio-economic development of the region are significant.

Agbu’s rise to greatness is not accidental but one backed by education, sheer hard work, and grace.

He values education and proved this by bagging two masters degrees from the Delta State University, Abrak, and the University of Ibadan, Oyo State.

Given the responsibilities of leadership, managing resources, and people, he provided to various foreign universities for executive leadership, management, security and professional training and programmes.

He is a recipient of academic awards from Said Business School, University of Oxford United Kingdom. Cranfield University, United Kingdom, and the Institute of National Security, Tel Aviv, Israel trained him in security management.

Between 2009 and 2018, Agbu has been a regular scholar at the prestigious Harvard Kennedy School, USA. For the decade, he lends himself to nine (9) execution ranging from Negotiation, Governance, Policy and Public Service, to Leadership. He is also an alumnus of Aga Khan University, GSMC.

These education, training programmes and certification are evident in his leadership and management of national responsibilities, entrusted to him.

He has stellar records in handling
socio-economic, political, businesses, maritime management and security, and complex security issues at the national level.

He was a member of the Presidential Committee on NorthEast Initiative, and former Chairman Governing Board of Directors Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency
(NIMASA) between 2013 and 2015.

While in the military, he is a decorated officer, who retired as a Lt. Colonel with honours such as FSS, Psc, Pjsc, and Chief Military Information Officer Commendation for Exceptional Professional Performance (UNAMSIL).

Retired Lt. Col Agbu Kefas is a gentleman with vast experience in military intelligence, conflict resolution, and human capital development.

He is a member of many professional associations such as the American Society for Industrial Security(ASIS), Overseas Security Advisory C o u n c i l ( O S A C ), International Institute of Professional Security (IIPS), Harvard University Alumni Association, Oxford University Alumni Association, and Aga Khan University Alumni Association.

He was Chairman PDP Taraba State chapter.

Agbu is a philanthropist who is giving back to society.

From 2015 to date, he is fostering peace in the region through reconciliatory mitigation between Muslim and Christian minorities.

He is equipping health centers in rural communities, providing community access roads, and education for the less privileged through the KEFAS AGBU INITIATIVE.

wife and children whom he adores
