Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has issued a stern warning that his administration will deal decisively with bandits and their informants, vowing to leave no room for their nefarious activities within the state.

The Governor gave the sound of warning during a condolence visit to Mera in Augie Local Government Area on Monday, where bandits recently killed 17 people.

He described the attack as a tragic loss, not only for Mera and Argungu but for the entire nation, as Nigerians across the country mourned the victims.

Governor Idris emphasized that no meaningful development can take place in the absence of security of lives and property. He pledged to sustain the ongoing offensive against banditry, which has already yielded significant success in Zuru and Yauri Emirates, restoring peace and enabling farmers to return to their fields.

To bolster security, the Governor announced the immediate procurement of additional vehicles for security personnel to enhance their operations.

Governor Idris condemned an incident where some individuals took the law into their hands by killing some Fulani, whom they suspected to be involved in the Mera attack.

“My administration will not condone acts of jungle justice. Report any suspicions to appropriate authorities for immediate action.

“I have directed the immediate arrest of those responsible for the unjust killing of innocent Fulani in the name of revenge.”

Earlier, the Chairman of Augie Local Government Area, Hon. Yahaya Muhammad, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s prompt response to the tragedy and his proactive measures to address the security challenges in the area.

At the Palace of the District Head of Augie, Alhaji Samaila Adamu Lamnen Augie, Governor Idris addressed Fulani leaders and victims, reiterating his disapproval of reprisal attack and assured them of justice.

The Governor announced a donation of ten million Naira to support the Fulani victims and pledged additional relief assistance to aid their rehabilitation.

One of the victims, Rugga Hore Mera, informed the Governor that three members of his household were killed during the attack.

Governor Idris once again urged residents to maintain peace and refrain from taking the law into their hands, assuring them of his administration’s unwavering commitment to justice and security.
