Performance Of GGSS Tudun Wada At JETS Competition Excites Gov Idris
Kebbi State has again recorded another feat as the Government Girls Secondary School Tudun Wada, Birnin Kebbi have emerged as the second runner up in the just-completed National Junior Engineers, Scientists and Technicians (JETS) held in Abuja.
The triumphant students of the school were presented to a visibly elated Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu at an epochal event at Government House, Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.
The N250,000 cheque that was clinched by the students was also presented to the Governor.
Speaking at the historic event, Dr. Idris also doled out N2 million for the Principal and teachers of the school.
He also doled out another N2 million to the students, saying, “our daughters have made us proud.
“The teachers have also made me and the government of Kebbi State proud.”
The Governor extolled the sterling commitment of the Principal and the teachers.
He said, “They deserve encomiums for facilitating the success of the students.
“I am also happy for the teahcers for being alive to their responsibilities.”
Dr. Idris also commended the Ministry of Education for providing the enabling environment for the students.
The Governor reiterated, “Kebbi State Government is for teahcers. They played crucial roles in my emergence as a Governor.
“Govenrment will continue to improve the living standard of the teachers and we have prioritized education.
“My number one agenda is education, my number two agenda is education and my number three agenda is also education.
“I am happy to recall that I have once became the number one teacher in Kebbi State, Nigeria and West Africa.
“I will also continue to remain a teacher. I am proud of this and never regret being a teacher’, he averred.
He also recalled that out of the 140 of them recruited as teachers in the old Sokoto State, only fourteen never changed cadres.
The Governor also announced automatic employment to a volunteer teacher who assisted the students towards the competition.
Speaking earlier, the Chief of Staff, Govenrment House, Birnin Kebbi, Barrister Attahiru Maccido commended the Governor for his invaluable support to education.
He happily explained to the Governor that the girls did achieved the feat alone with minimal interference from their teachers.
Maccido commeded Governor Idris on his unwavering effort and support to education sectorin Kebbi , “He is a teacher per excellence and we are still learning from him everyday.
Education is his core mandate and agenda. He finds peace and happiness around the teaching and learning sector ‘ he said
