A kidnap victim in Plateau State, John Kwatsen, has been rescued after a fierce gun battle between operatives of the state police Command and kidnappers at a forest in Rantiya community in Jos South Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesman for the State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, disclosed this in a statement in Jos on Saturday.

He said the 38-year-old victim, who resides in Port Harcourt was abducted in his car by hoodlums when he visited Jos, the state capital.

He said the police operatives from the Rantiya Division, who were alerted to the incident, led other operatives to a mountain in the locality and engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel and the victim was rescued eventually.
